I upgraded the holes to M3 exclusively because that's what I had on hand and it's my preferred choice. The NodeMCU may need a slight enlargement with a drill due to its unique requirements, but I found that M3 works just fine without any modifications. To ensure a secure setup and prevent loose connections, I opted for headers on a piece of perfboard instead of using jumper cables directly. This solution not only minimizes the risk of cable dislodgement but also allows me to reuse the ESP board without having to solder it into the project. After creating a suitable hole in the perfboard, my setup was complete.
