
Dust extraction system Stepcraft M500

<p><strong>I tried out many different concepts from the internet but none of them was suitable for my machine.</strong></p><p>So I designed a system<strong> from scratch</strong> and am very happy with it, feel free to modify it ( <strong>.f3d</strong> and<strong> .step</strong> files are included). <br><i><strong>Please tell me what you changed to improve the design.</strong></i><br> </p><p><strong>base_plate</strong> (printed in CF-PLA / I machined it out of POM)</p><p>The base_plate is mounted on the bottom Z frame of the machine using the:</p><ul><li><strong>alignment_pin_left</strong> (bigger DM) (printed in TPU)</li><li><strong>alignment_pin_right</strong> (smaller DM) (printed in TPU)</li><li><strong>side_clamp</strong>. (printed in CF-PLA)<br> </li></ul><p>I designed two different Dust_shoes (printed in CF-PLA):</p><ul><li><strong>5.5mm_Dust_shoe</strong> for a brush like this: <a href="https://amzn.to/3CYv6lO">https://amzn.to/3CYv6lO</a></li><li><strong>2.1mm_Dust_shoe</strong> for a 2mm PVC mat like this: <a href="https://amzn.to/3TGcFZ7">https://amzn.to/3TGcFZ7</a><br>both can be mounted to the bottom side of the base_plate using magnetic band like this: <a href="https://amzn.to/3BkaWl8">https://amzn.to/3BkaWl8</a><br><br>Besides the magnetic band (Z direction) the <i>Dust shoe - base_plate connection</i> is also supported using anti sheering pins (X and Y direction).<br>I threaded the baseplate (M4), screwed them in and also used shrinkage tube for this 4 bolts to gurantee soft contact to the Dust_shoe</li></ul><p>The vacuum hose is mounted to the base_plate using the <strong>hose_adapter</strong> (printed in TPU) and can be supported somewhere on the machine with:</p><ul><li><strong>Hose_Clamp_Base</strong> (printed in CF-PLA)</li><li><strong>Hose_Clamp_Top</strong> (printed in CF-PLA)</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Material list:</strong></p><ul><li>2pcs<strong> </strong>M4x16<strong> </strong>internal hex bolts for mounting the side_clamp</li><li>4pcs M4x16 internal hex bolts as anti sheering bolts</li><li>4pcs M6x16 internal hex bolts and</li><li>4pcs M6 nuts if you want to use the Hose_Clamp_Base and Hose_Clamp_Top</li><li>The brush or PVC mat (links above)</li><li>The magnetic band 20x2</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Additional Info:</strong><br>If you are using your machine with the T-slot table at the upper position everything is as usual.<br>If you are using the lower position or no T-slot table at all, your build area reduces to <strong>~ Y460 X300 </strong></p>
