Dust Cyclone
prusaprinters
Also called a “Cyclone Dust Separator” or “Dust Collector”, I needed one but the ones available were too expensive.I printed it with PETG. I am not sure if PLA will work. The print is huge and uses up a substantial amount of filament. The ports that go to the vacuum and the inlet are not designed for any specific hoses. An adaptor needs to be made and printed. The ID is 45.6mm and the OD is 50mm. There are nice resources to find the specific adaptor you need, such as this one: https://www.printables.com/model/283238-vacuum-hose-adapters-for-all-common-sizesI am including mounting guides (in PDF) that can be printed to help with cutout of the hole and the locations of the mounting bolts.Optionally you can print the Optional Mount to improve sturdiness if the bucket is a bit flexible. The bucket lid can then be sandwiched between the cyclone body and the optional mount.Printing settings I recommend:Small layer height of 0.2mm. I managed to print at a layer height of 0.32mm to decrease the print time, but I had to fill in some gaps on the lid where the overhang angle was too much and small gaps were introduced. For the body, I recommend increasing the wall count until the slicer does not use infill anymore. This will improve printing time and strength. For the lid, any infill to help with the top skin of the lid. If you want the part stronger, add more walls and top/bottom layers instead of too much infill. You have to enable supports for the lid. I used the new tree supports and it works great. The only section that requires support is the inlet nozzle. You have to add support blockers on the lid otherwise the slicer will want to add support where the thread goes. Can optionally add support blocker at the top of the inlet nozzle, because bridging there is fine.To improve bridging, I enabled the two Cura experimental settings "Enable Bridge Settings" and “Overhang Wall Speed".
