Dust Containment, Craftsman 113 Table Saw Blade Guard
thingiverse
Pivoting sawdust deflector, dust cap, and dust collection hose adapters for factory blade guards are designed to reduce the blast of sawdust out of the front of the guard during cutting operations. These adapters fit the factory guard of vintage Sears Craftsman model 113 contractor-style 10" table saws, including the 113.298142, 113.298032, and 113.298240 models. A dust hose adapter fits 2.5" Shop-Vac style hoses securely in place. To attach the flange to the horizontal dust hose adapter, use a strong adhesive for a solid bond. The dust cap and flanges plug into the rectangular opening on the upper front portion of the blade guard with a friction fit. Dust hose adapters feature an airflow control that allows the deflector to open when the guard is raised, enabling smooth operation. For vertical assembly, fasten the adapter to the flange using aluminum rivets and washers. Due to limited space for a rivet tool, clamp the tail of the rivet in a vise and expand the head with a nail-setting punch, ensuring the assembly can still rotate freely. Rotate the cylindrical portion up to 90 degrees to increase or reduce airflow as needed. For horizontal hose assembly, run a bolt through the hole in the flow control and adapter. Use washers and nylon-insert locknuts appropriately so that you can rotate the flow control inside the hose adapter assembly to regulate flow effectively. The setup still requires easily-removable clips to attach and support the hose to the guard arm, as well as possibly a separate support arm or ceiling support to hold the weight of the hose securely in place.
