This adapter is specifically designed for a 4-inch receiver or adapter, not a 4-inch hose on a dust collector. To use this adapter, attach it to a 4-inch dust collector receiver or adapter in order to adapt it to a shop-vac 2.5-inch hose. The shop-vac end of the adapter is intended to fit into the tapered fitting that comes with the shop-vac hose kit. There's also an optional set screw hole in the fitting, allowing you to secure the fitting firmly to the 4-inch dust collector end.
