Dust Collection Blast Gate for 4-inch Sewer & Drain Pipe

I'm designing a custom dust collection system for my shop, using PVC plumbing pipe like many woodworkers do. However, I've encountered a significant drawback: PVC fittings aren't designed to handle airflow exceeding 1000 CFM, which can lead to substantial pressure drops within the system. Moreover, larger sizes such as 6 inches and above come with hefty price tags for their fittings. These challenges prompted me to create my own custom fittings using 3D printing technology. I've developed blast gates, elbows, and wyes that aim to minimize pressure drop while seamlessly integrating with PVC sewer & drain pipes without the need for additional adapters. The fewer fittings, the better for dust collection performance. This Thing is a specialized blast gate designed specifically for use with 4-inch PVC S&D pipe and 4-inch flexible hose. Its design ensures a snug fit onto the end of 4-inch pipe on one side and securely connects to the DC port on a WW tool via the flex hose on the other side. To prevent the gate from shifting between open and closed positions while the dust collector is in operation, I've incorporated magnets into the design. Although this feature could be considered optional, I've opted for this precautionary measure, having only tested the gate horizontally so far. It's possible that gravity might even hold the gate in place when mounted vertically, but further experimentation is needed to confirm this. To enhance system control and automation, mounting bosses are included for a micro switch. Future plans involve integrating the blast gates as switches to start and stop the dust collector when opened or closed. The design features three mounting holes on each side, providing flexibility in terms of attachment methods. I've successfully mounted some gates using both sides, while others have been secured with just one side, proving that even single-sided attachments are sturdy enough. To complete the system, additional materials beyond the 3D-printed components will be required.
