I got the parts pre-cut yesterday and started today. I smoothed out all the joints and ground down the glue areas with a 240 sandpaper to make sure the glue sticks perfectly. The door that's simply hooked onto the front is already mounted, but it needs some improvement to avoid rattling - it's so far okay. The upper hooks are made of M3 countersunk screws with a machined spacer to accommodate the thickness of the cover, and they need some improvement too. On the lower part, I only machined halfway through the material to leave some space for the screw heads. I made sure the space is just slightly smaller in diameter than the screw head so that the front cover doesn't fall off easily. I had to give it a try, and guess what? It fits perfectly! The lower part can be removed, and I think I'll do that during printing so the spool remains cool. Let's see how it goes. Finishing is for tomorrow - some early morning finishing without polishing the scratched areas of the acrylic glass (I'll do that later). Now all I'm missing are the corners and bars to hold it in place.
