After wrestling with the flimsy wheel support for the second time, I've decided to fix it once and for all. So, I printed a brand new shaft support (the plastic sleeve) and crafted a robust new support using a length of 2mm diameter steel wire. While it may not be as aesthetically pleasing as the original, this setup is incredibly solid and performs flawlessly - I put it to the test today. The M2.2 push rod from Hobbyking (https://hobbyking.com/en_us/metal-push-rods-m2-2xl300-10pcs-set.html) proved to be a great choice for the wire. Although they appear almost black, these rods are extremely resilient and can only be bent using a vice - a far cry from the usual chinesium alloy commonly used in retracts or legs. The sleeve fits snugly into the original hall and can be secured in place with a dab of hot glue or cyanoacrylate. In my design, the plastic sleeve remains stationary while the rod inside takes on the motion. I reused the original wheel and added a retainer for good measure.
