Duplo Train Tower
thingiverse
There are many impressive multi-level Duplo Train layouts on YouTube, and I have long wanted to build my own. However, not having nearly enough blocks to build the tall supports and not wanting to deal with their shaky construction, I designed and 3D printed a sturdier solution. The Duplo Train Tower uses 3/8" dowels as the primary vertical element, a stable hexagonal base, and Track Supports spaced one for every two curved tracks.https://youtu.be/U2n7FbHC3xMConstruction:Step 1) Build the base using 6 Base pieces and Connector Rods. Ensure that the Rods are well seated into each Base piece.Step 2) Add 12 Dowels to the Base pieces.Step 3) Connect the Track Supports to the Dowels in a spiral pattern. Each Support is placed 58mm higher than the previous one, for a gain of 348mm per revolution.Step 4) Add the Tracks. Every second track is joined to a Track Support via a Duplo Brick. The Track, Brick, and Support are secured with a Zip Tie.Printing:Base: Print 6. Orientation = flatConnector Rods: Print 6. Orientation = vertical with a large brim. OR (recommended) Substitute 3/8" Dowels cut to 242mm length.Track Supports: Print as many as needed (Height of Tower / 58mm +1). Orientation = flat
