Duplicator i3 80mm Fan Back Plate
thingiverse
I was underwhelmed by the airflow of the stock fan on my Maker Select V2.1, so I decided to give new life to a spare Antec 80mm PC fan that had been collecting dust. To mount the 80mm fan on the control box of the Maker Select, I created this back plate from scratch. I utilized slightly longer M3 bolts to secure it to the control box for added stability. For attaching the fan to the back plate, I opted for screw inserts, which I sourced from McMaster Carr at https://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/122/3320/=15ctwg9. The print job was a success, thanks to eSun PETG filament, a 50% infill rate, and a .2mm layer thickness. A simple skirt setting was all that was needed for this design. Regrettably, I overlooked adding supports, resulting in an unsightly overhang around the power plug area. Thankfully, it will remain hidden anyway. However, I strongly advise against omitting supports when working with PETG filament. The design was crafted using Tinkercad, a CAD software that is still new to me. While it may not be a masterpiece of engineering, my creation gets the job done efficiently.
