Duplicator i3 3rd-rail Z tower brace
thingiverse
i have updated the model with slightly larger openings for the threaded rod, and also added a sat file for anyone who wants to modify it, as long as they give credit. Here is a z tower brace mod that i created to meet my own needs and those of others who want to use all of their z height after installing a tornado extruder or any extruder taller than stock. B.O.M. 4x m3.5 hex nuts (to install in the new tower braces for the side screws) 3x 410mm 5/16 threaded rod 12x 5/16 nuts 12x 5/16 washers the guide balls are meant to be used with 5/16 washers and nuts. they also help to square off your z towers for better print quality, as many of us know the original frame is not perfect. this mod has been tested and modified and tested some more to ensure it's a working drop-in replacement for the original tower brace before release. a big thanks goes to todd swindoll for testing and providing great feedback and showcasing them in the wanhao di3 facebook group. the pictures above of the installed brace are my v1 (2 rail). the model has since been updated, and pictures of the actual final 3rd rail version will be posted in the makes section. Print Settings printer: wanhao di3 rafts: no supports: yes resolution: 0.20 or higher infill: 40% or higher notes: you will want to print these with at least 3 layers and 40% infill, with support enabled set to normal in simplify3d, or in cura support enabled set to everywhere.
