Duplicating Disc Detainer Keys
thingiverse
The Physical Keygen post received various reactions, with many claiming it as a gimmick for bypassing basic Schlage and Kwikset pin tumbler locks. However, Schuyler Towne from Open Locksport saw potential in using 3D printing to create keys for disc detainer locks. After testing and refining the model, the author successfully printed an ABUS Plus key, which is a higher security lock than previous attempts. The OpenSCAD model is available with instructions on how to edit it for your specific key. Additionally, the author attempted to print a key for Kryptonite bicycle U-locks but encountered difficulties due to the smaller size of the key. Despite this, the Kryptonite key was later successfully printed by adjusting printing settings. The files are provided for others to try and improve upon.
