Dupli-Color Touch-Up Paint Tube Holder

DESCRIPTION: This is a holder for the ubiquitous Dupli-Color® Scratch Fix All-in-1™ Exact-Match Automotive Touch-Up Paint tubes you can find at any auto parts store. It can also hold the more generic Rust-Oleum Universal Touch Up Markers, although they are a loose fit than the DupliColor ones. The holder comes in two flavors, compact (185mm long) and straight (274mm long). Both hold eight tubes of paint; however, compact uses a staggered hole pattern whereas straight uses a straight hole pattern. I was not able to print the straight design myself since it is larger than my printer’s build area, but I wanted to include it both for people with large printers as well as since it would be the easiest to modify to reduce hole count if desired. FILES: For each design I included a traditional STL file, the original Inventor IPT part file, and lastly a STP (step) file, which imports into 3D modeling software as a single solid body that can be edited upon. The step file should allow easy editing of the straight design to reduce hole count as discussed earlier. PRINTING: First off, I apologize that the STL files import sideways into the slicer (at least for Cura), I did not start my design on the right plane for it to import bottom down by default. Simply rotate the part 90 degrees in your slicer before printing. Print settings were all very standard, this is not a difficult part to print. Infill should be thought of as weight to add stability to the holder. Especially on the straight design with a smaller base area, more infill will make it less likely to tip over. I believe I used 25% infill on the compact design I printed with no tip over issues being stored in a stationary location.
