Pass these coins out to your players to reward them for playing their characters well in your game! This makes inspiration fun for the DM to hand out, and fun for the players to cash in on that big roll where advantage may turn the tides of the encounter. These coins use the idea of variant inspiration, written up by Brian Schrader at https://adventurerscodex.com/early-access/2018-05-23-inspiration.html. The idea is that by providing several categories for players to gain inspiration in, there's more opportunities to earn it, and hand it out as a DM, while encouraging specific play habits in the gaming group. These coins reward good roleplaying, cool combat maneuvers, and thinking outside the box. I have used this rule for the past year in the game that I am DMing and we have had a lot of success. Good play behavior means that my players aren't hesitant to try to earn new inspiration and try to pass those rolls whenever they really count. Here's a breakdown of the categories:Backstory (Yellow) - A player can earn a backstory point if they roleplay a situation that is heavily influenced by, or gives some indirect insight into, their character's background. This can be something like telling a personal story while the party sits around a campfire or during a religious confession.Flaw (Purple) - A player can earn a flaw point for roleplaying a possibly contentious character flaw. Maybe their character is too distrustful and sabotages the mission, or because of their thieving background, they hide crucial information from the rest of the party.Combat (Red) - A player can earn a combat point for flashy or awesome combat moves, clever planning, or roleplaying out spectacular maneuvers.Fellowship (Green) - A player can earn a fellowship point for using their skills or character traits to inspire or build trust with the other characters in the party. A character's rousing, fireside speech, or brave leap into the path of an oncoming Witch Bolt to protect another party member are good examples.Ingenuity (Blue) - A player can earn an ingenuity point similarly to a combat point. This rewards slick persuasion, lurking stealth moves, or clever planning outside of combat. If you like these coins and would like to purchase a set for yourself, check out my Etsy shop at: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1161485957/dungeons-dragons-variant-inspiration
