Dumpster Diving
thingiverse
They modified this design to print flat and assemble it snap-fit-style, with lids that can be lifted up. A piece of 1.75mm filament threaded through each hinge is what they used. A happy accident happens if you swap the lids over; one side stays slightly open. This behavior is very much like real ones, as they never close all the way either. The side lift rails needed to be modified - initially they disappeared completely when printing out the model. It takes about 1 hour to print with nominal support, making it perfect for your tabletop skirmish war game or a zombie apocalypse scenario.
