Dummy Firearm Ammunition, Various
thingiverse
These are various firearm cartridges designed to spec, with dimensional specs obtained from Wikipedia pages and reloading manuals. The ones I've tested have been accurate enough to chamber without issue, though they all fit very tightly. The extractor rim doesn't fare well when printed in PLA, failing 100% of the time due to tight chambering. Scaling the model in the XY directions (1-3%) could possibly allow them to fit loosely enough to keep the rims intact. I left a primer pocket in each cartridge for filling with soft material if used as snap caps. Fitting an actual primer is not recommended. One significant concession was made to printability: none of the cases are chamfered at the bottom (head), making them tricky to feed in some guns and causing the rims to appear slightly thicker than the real thing. The spitzer-point bullets feature R10 tangent ogives and a meplat diameter of approximately 1.5mm. Round-nose bullets were modeled with an estimated nose diameter. Parametric models for most common case/bullet styles are available, including many popular cartridges. If there's a specific cartridge desired, dropping a message is the best way to get it added to the collection, as more will likely be created in due time.
