Dumbbell fat grips
thingiverse
UPDATE: It appears that not all hex dumbbell handles are created equal. In my collection, the majority of my dumbbells feature 27.5mm diameter handles. However, a few sets differ from this standard, with one handle measuring 30.5mm and another at 28.5mm in diameter. The texture is also slightly too smooth. I plan to add some patterns to the grips at a later time. If inspiration strikes, I will revisit OpenSCAD and develop this project into a fully customizable design. Lately, I've been picking up items and putting them back down. Since time is valuable, I wanted something to actively engage my forearms while handling dumbbells. Fat grips, Gorilla grips, and similar products seemed like an excellent idea at the time. However, I'd rather create it myself than spend money. This project comes in two versions: full grip and baseball. Required materials: * 4-8 3mm x 25mm bolts * 4-8 3mm washers * 4-8 3mm Nylock nuts * A cast iron hex dumbbell Print two identical pieces, flip one over, and assemble them using the bolts. Ensure that you print these strongly. The diameter of my hex dumbbell handles is 27.5mm. The baseball grip is circular, measuring 75mm in diameter, similar to a baseball. The fat grip features a gentle contour, with a middle measurement of 55mm (2 1/8 inches) and end measurements of approximately 49mm (2 inches). The overall length of the grip is 125mm. Print settings: * Infill: 35% * Notes: + PETG + 4 walls + 10 layers on top and bottom + 35% tetrahedron infill
