Dumbbell Concrete Form

Dumbbell Concrete Form

Annoyed with the lag time and expense of buying weights, I designed concrete forms to build my own dumbbells. I recommend printing 2 each of the included STLs so you can pour both sides of the dumbbell at once. If you haven't worked with concrete before, definitely check out some videos on youtube. Maybe try this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANkPGzAEAHI&feature=emb_logo Aside from the printed forms, you'll need concrete, clamps, 3/4" steel pipe, and 2 matching 3/4" flanges for each pipe to make sure the concrete holds firm. 1) Clamp your forms together 2) Tape them down to some scrap cardboard 3) Mix your concrete and pour some into the bottom of the forms 4) Wrap your 3/4" pipe in cling wrap to keep it clean, and attach the flanges 5) Press into the form 6) Insert the slot-peg into the hole 7) Fill the rest of the form and repeatedly tap it to ensure any empty spaces are filled 8) (optional) use a wet sponge to smooth the surface After it cures, I also suggest spraying it with plasti-dip and wrapping the handle in some nice 3/4" leather strap. It weighs about 25 pounds.
