Duet Smart Effector - Fan Duct - Volcano Hotend - Dual 40mm Fans
thingiverse
A multitude of individuals have been pestering me to publish my fan duct design for the Duet smart Effector. I am hesitant to release this model as there are numerous issues that are simply done incorrectly on the smart effector, which I do not wish to promote. The fixation with screw connectors for heaters and the absurd variance in connectors on the effector (for goodness' sake, they have two different connectors for the two fan outputs, neither of which is a standard fan connector and five times larger than necessary), there is also no protection on the traces for the four resistors, which are just begging to be damaged (remember, there are numerous screws going through it)....excellent idea poorly executed. The layout under the board is not conducive to adding fans and ducts with the designs and suggestions from the inventor leaving much to be desired (why have a compact effector only to make it massive again after adding fans). Having an eternal pressure pump to supply air down a tube is another poor solution, as it is noisy, fiddly if you have tall Z areas and provides substandard air volume and generally can't be used for anything other than PLA due to the air coming from an external source outside of the heated build chamber used for stronger plastics (yes, you use a print fan with ABS, PC etc in a heated chamber). This has been designed to be printed in Polycarbonate, if you don't print in high-temperature plastics (over 250*C) then you should be fine just using ABS. See my designs for the matching mag ball arm carriage mounts to convert the Tevo Little Monster.
