Ducted Fan (Box Fan) Shroud and Stand
thingiverse
This is a fully functional desk model of a shrouded ducted fan, based on odie_wan's original design concept. The design has been up-scaled to accommodate two fans, each measuring 50mm in diameter. The rotation has been adjusted to ensure that the fans vent directly to the rear. A flat bottom has been removed and replaced with a simple display mount that routes the power cable through, featuring keyed fittings for both the stand and the bottom of the shroud. My finished version utilized 3mm screws to hold the two halves together once the fans were installed. The material used was blue ABS, which had some minor blemishes. A square alternate wiring hole on one side was filled with ABS sludge, while the shroud join was also patched with ABS sludge and then sanded back down before painting. The finished model was painted with aluminum spray paint, lightly sanded, and finally sealed with a clear gloss finish. Notable features of my completed model include using ABS sludge to fill and conceal the middle join and the square cable hole on the side, prior to preparing for painting.
