Duckietown Duckiebot Ball Caster Mount

Duckietown Duckiebot Ball Caster Mount

thingiverse

This is a custom 3D printed ball caster mount designed specifically for robots featured on the Duckietown website (http://duckietown.org). The original metal ball caster provided with the Dagu chassis was deemed unsuitable due to its noise-making properties, prompting us to design an alternative part. This new component is tailored for the 3/4" plastic ball caster from Pololu, item PL-954. When installed, it replaces the original ball caster at the exact same location, boasting a lighter and quieter profile. To assemble this mount, first secure the Pololu ball caster using the provided screws. Next, insert the ball through an opening on the Pololu part, which must face towards the rear of the robot. Finally, attach the mounting piece to the chassis using M3 screws and nuts. By printing this custom mount alongside the motor mount and battery holder, you'll be able to create a more refined Duckiebot that's easier to operate and retains its calibration settings for an extended period. The accompanying Sketch-Up file allows for easy modification to suit your specific needs.
