This bone was uncovered in the south yard at James Madison's historic estate, Montpelier. It was carefully scanned using a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner. The scan aimed to enhance digital resources on slavery in Virginia available through the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities Encyclopedia Virginia.
