Duck Bone
myminifactory
This bone was excavated archaeologically from the south yard at James Madison's iconic estate, Montpelier. It was meticulously scanned using a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner to capture its intricate details. The object was digitally reconstructed as part of an ambitious project to enhance the digital archives of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities' Encyclopedia Virginia, which focuses on the complex history of slavery in Virginia. This pioneering scanning initiative is made possible through generous funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, with grateful acknowledgement to James Madison's Montpelier for its invaluable contribution to this endeavor.
