Ducati 999 Cam Belt Tool
thingiverse
This is a simple tool for locking the vertical intake cam gear in place when doing a timing belt change on a Ducati 999. The design was originally intended for the 2003 Ducati 999R, but it may also fit other motorcycles from the 749/999/Testastretta engine series. A commercial tool with the wrong tooth pitch led me to create this one myself. I wanted something straightforward and non-damaging, so printing this part out in PLA works perfectly for me. If you ever lose it, just print a new one. Tips: There are many excellent YouTube videos on how to change belts on a Ducati. Use an engine turning tool to adjust the cams slightly if needed to get this cam lock tool to align perfectly and lock the upper intake cam gear. Make sure to fit the cam locking tool in place before removing the belt from the vertical cylinder or the intake cam will move. Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Fast Infill: 18% Notes: This design is strong enough with a basic "Fast" print setting on an Ultimaker 2+. It does a 0.8mm shell with an 18% fill. Adding more material can't hurt if you plan to use it multiple times. I designed this tool using Sketchup Make.
