Dual Samsung Gear 360 (2017) for 3D VR

This design is super niche, and I'd be shocked if more than 10 people owned a Gear 360 (2017). Let alone two of them! Long story short, Santa gifted me an HTC Vive VR headset and I've got two Samsung Gear 360 2017 versions. What about turning them to capture 3D footage for a VR 180 (and almost 360)? Only the main mounting part is done. I'll do the underlying adapter later on (to GoPro, RAM mount, etc). - The two cameras have a distance of precisely 64mm. - Rotation is prevented using an USB-C magnetic plug (not forced). - Using these magnetic plugs will allow you to almost perfectly align the cameras. - Tripod screw underneath must be shortened or equal to 10mm. - Three central holes for attachment are 5mm wide and 10mm apart. - These holes make it suitable to attach to anything you would want until the release of the base plate. - There's a hole for ziptie attachment. Part list: - 2x Samsung Gear 360 (2017) - 2x tripod screw (max thread length 10mm) Optional but recommended: - 2x USB magnetic cable: https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/Elough-3-in-1-magnetic-charge-for-iphone-xs-max-xr-x-8-7-plus/32843412223.html Video postprocessing: - 3D 180: Very easy to do in Premiere Pro. Film with both lenses on both cameras to get the raw version with the dual fisheyes. Import the two files in Premiere and stack them on different tracks but on the same timing. Move the position of the left camera to the left (pos 0) and the right camera to the right (I use 2880x1440 30fps so the max value is 2880). Edit the sequence to be VR equirectangular in stereoscopic side by side with a field of view at 180° for both if you want to preview. Export the media as it and you can view in Vive Video as Side by Side in 180°. Not tested if you can upload to YouTube and have it automatically recognized with the correct format. - 3D 360: TBD. Workflow would be to do 3D 180 for front and back (invert the footage position min/max) as fisheye version then convert both to equirectangular version. Import both converted versions in Premiere Pro and stack them as top/bottom or side/side 3D video.
