After exhausting all options for dual monitor mounts that fit my specific setup without breaking the bank, I decided to create one myself. This DIY solution utilizes 3/4 EMT tubing as the primary support, which is not only affordable but also readily available - a 10ft section can be purchased for just $6. To add further stability, I incorporated some leftover self-tapping screws from my previous EMT8 build. The finished product is designed to be sandwiched between my shelf and desk, held in place by screws that provide maximum security. The result is a sturdy mount that works seamlessly with my monitors, and its versatility ensures it will adapt well to various other setups. This custom-made mount accommodates VESA 100/100 mounts, providing users with multiple options for securing their displays. Additionally, the design includes a 90-degree piece that allows users without shelves to secure the mount to the wall instead. This thoughtful touch offers users greater flexibility and freedom when it comes to placement. For reference, my top monitor is a heavy, older Dell LCD model weighing approximately 7-8lbs. The mounts are performing flawlessly, exhibiting no sag or signs of weakness. They are truly robust pieces that can support even the heaviest displays.
