Dual MK8 GMount
thingiverse
After a long time since my previous mount for single hotend, I present you the dual extruder design mount. This was actually inspired by the standard Geeetech's Prusa i3x model that shipped with a dual extruder design using MK8 extruder and this one fits for standard Geeetech's X carriage screw distance, not the standard vanilla Prusa i3. I personally prefer direct drive compared to Bowden because using direct typically can print any kind of material especially if you're going to use solid and flex material during printing. The offset for the right extruder from the right should be roughly about 32mm in X axis. Features: Uses MK8 extruder only (or any similar design) Dual Hotend groove mount mainly for E3D V6 (other hot end may apply too) Can be either Bowden, Direct or semi (one Bowden, another direct) Modular design Y axis stays (if you're coming from single type) Post-Printing Screws Required: M3 x 24mm = 3 (For fasteners) M4 x 18mm = 3 (For G-lock) Assembly: Almost every screw required from the previous single hotend type mount are required Screw down the fasteners first using the M3 screws Mount your extruder (your MK8 extruder with motor) to the fastener Mount the mount to the X carriage before fitting in the hotends. Fit the hotends into the slot and lock it with the G-lock, 3 screws are recommended If you must fit in the hotend first, do slide in the screws for fastener first. These screw were held down by the E3D V6's heatsink fin. After wards use a long hex/allen key for it. This is assumed that you've fitted the mount to the X carriage and a scenario where you want to run the teflon tube into MK8 extruder gears for direct drives Custom Section P.S I haven't tested this dual mount for real yet as I don't have enough stepper motor and hot ends yet. But I'm pretty confident that this dual mount will work without much of a problems Do give me feedback on how can I improve this parts I still haven't thought of doing an auto bed leveling mounting positions yet, for this one you have to make do for now I am sorry for the lack of accessibility during and after assembly because I'm trying to retain its size and Y axis position as much as I could while retaining modularity and rigidity Update 26th March Added Dual Fastener file as requested
