Dual material lid for 7SoulFox's dice tray
thingiverse
This is an alternate top for the dice tray in 7SoulFox's "Dice Box/Tray/Thing". I wanted something more complex than a simple cut-through design or solid plate, so I created a quick plate instead. This design utilizes dual-material printing (although it could potentially use up to seven materials if you had an appropriate printer). The panel was printed in wood filament and the rest in black PLA. You can also print this single material by loading all the parts into your slicer and not setting an alternate extruder for the different parts. I printed at 0.15mm layers, with a 20% infill, and no supports or other features. The dice have minimal overhangs due to design, so they should print on almost any printer without supports. I used an "octagram spiral" fill pattern for the top/bottom layer, as it looks better when stained like wood filament. I haven't done any prep sanding or staining my box yet, so I don't have a finished photo to show. Instead, I uploaded a rendering of what it should look like when completed. If you have a single-material printer, you might be able to print all the parts separately and assemble them with glue. It could take some filing to get everything to fit, but the openings for all the dice should probably be large enough to accommodate them after printing. You might want to print them 99% complete or so, leaving some clearance, and then use CA glue to hold them in place. The dice models used in this design can be found here: https://grabcad.com/library/dice--4 I have tagged this as a remix, but technically it's more of a from-scratch remake of the panel in Fusion360. It closely matches the original design.
