A revised system that substitutes pneumatic connectors with clamps that can be tightened using zip ties. The update: the initial clamp design proved fragile and prone to breakage. I have uploaded an M4 connector based on an M4 nut threaded onto 4mm OD PTFE tubing, specifically designed for use with 1.75mm filament extruders. Note that this untested modification may result in difficulties when attempting to print due to inadequate support within the clamp design; I will likely need to rework the component by separating it and creating a removable cover piece that fits over the original fitting. For this project, users are required to obtain supporting files from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:108273 and import them into OpenSCAD or use STL files for building purposes.
