Dual Head Calibration Helper

Because I couldn't find a helper to measure the mismatch of the second toolhead's offset directly, I created my own. It doesn't look impressive but helped me to precisely adjust the offset settings in my slicer program after only one print test. Print Settings Printer: FlashForge Dreamer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.20 mm Infill: Doesn't matter Notes: Place both models at the center of the print plate. The marked pair of lines must be positioned exactly opposite each other. Refer to the picture above. Select the model "..primary.stl" for the primary toolhead, and the model "..secondary.stl" has to be printed with the secondary toolhead (the one with the offset). Adjust the first layer settings to get thin lines. Decrease the extrusion factor and the layer height and width. Post-Printing After printing, search for the pair of lines standing directly opposite each other. Every pair of lines has an additional offset of 50µm from the previous pair. The marked pair of lines has no offset. If, for example, the third pair to the right of the marked pair fits best, the toolhead offset settings in the slicer must be increased by 150µm. On the other hand, if the fourth pair to the left of the marked one fits well, the offset value should be decreased by 200µm. These values are valid for the Flashforge Dreamer with an inverted x-axis and the right toolhead as primary. The left toolhead is secondary with a positive offset. If your printer has different prerequisites, you may need to invert the sign of the correction value. The first photo above shows that I had to increase the toolhead offset settings in my slicer by 100µm because the second pair on the right side fits best. The second photo was taken after printing with the corrected offset. Now the marked lines and so the toolheads fit perfectly. Ignore the black dots beside the yellow lines. The ooze shield doesn't work for the first layer. If this was helpful, please leave a comment. How I Designed This Designed with FreeCAD
