Dual Finderscope Bracket (36mm dovetail)
thingiverse
UPDATE - Added a version with sockets and one with also the footing. Sockets measure 16x5x4.5mm in width, height, and depth respectively, while footing measures 14x4x4mm. The version with footing will require supports during printing due to its design. The screw thread has been enlarged by 0.2mm as screwing was hard initially. A full night's test in a 10C garage at upright position with dual mounting and finderscope resulted in the model surviving. A single bracket for holding guidescope and finderscope was needed, but existing models mimicked aluminium design too closely, leading to instability and snapping issues due to weight reduction. This heavy-duty model provides a sturdy design adapted to printed plastics. Key points include: - Clearance between dovetail bracket and foot is 4mm more than ideal. - Screw threads are for standard 4mm diameter screws, 8mm long with 0.75 pitch. - Avoid overtightening; make contact then turn once. - PETG's contraction in cold needs to be tested carefully as it affects screw compression reliability. - Print sideways (90deg rotation on X) is recommended. - Printed with PETG, 4 layers walls, 30% infill.
