Flexion Extruders, inspired by Ninjaflex's maker, offer a powerful solution for printing flexible 3D filament. The Lulzbot Taz 6 has earned its reputation by building on the success of several prior generations of Lulzbot printers. The design presented here offers several key advantages. The head mounts onto the Taz 6 with no mechanical or electrical modifications needed, and uses the same mechanical mounting system as standard Lulzbot FlexyDually heads: a single 3mm screw plus two 16-pin connectors. The head features all the cooling of a stock Lulzbot V2+ current head. The Taz 6 limit switches and automatic bed leveling work identically to a Lulzbot head. Lulzbot FlexiDually firmware is used for this head. Only changes from a standard Flexidually set-up are different e-steps for the direct drive extruders and a closer spacing of the nozzles. This project assumes that no prior extruder head is used as a substitute for parts. Therefore, the necessary parts to be purchased and printed are listed in the BOM pdf. It is assumed that most screws and wire are available locally. It also assumes that the necessary procedures and wiring diagram for a standard V2 Taz 6 Hexagon hot end will be referenced for wiring the plug and matching pin positions. This excellent Lulzbot-provided document can be found at https://ohai.lulzbot.com/project/taz-6-extruder-assembly/taz-6/. The following tools are necessary: 1.Soldering Iron and electrical solder(recommended) for pins and heat set inserts 2.Set of ball-end metric Allen keys including 1.5, 2, 2.5 3.Wire strippers and/or razor blade 4.Wire connector crimp 5.Drill with capability of 11.5mm drill bit 6.Feeler Gauges. Print Settings: Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 6 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Infill: 50% Notes: The ducts are printed with the fan attachment down and supports for the rest. Post-Printing: Heat Set Inserts As Lulzbot uses, heat set inserts provide robust and long-wearing attachment points. They can be easily inserted using a soldering iron.
