Dual Extruder for M2
thingiverse
This dual head extruder build includes parts from MakerGear, but with heavy modifications. You'll need an additional motor, wiring harness, and more to assemble it. The designer thanks MG for making files available on GitHub. The project is still a work in progress, so suggestions are welcome. As for the dual spool holder, only one clip is needed, and it may require longer posts for your spools. The motor mount uses original hardware, and the extruder drive head needs printing in a specific orientation. Assembly requires care with hot end slots and fan shroud installation. A new x end stop is necessary to prevent crashes when homing the machine. Be cautious with thermistors during testing. S3DCreator doesn't account for dual extruder offsets, so Marlin firmware modification may be needed. The creator has a modified version on GitHub and suggests working on a calibration object for better results. Random thoughts include extra consideration for non-printing hot ends and the need for improved start gcode for both hot ends.
