Dual encoder for single encoders
thingiverse
This is my first design after switching from FreeCAD to Fusion360. Dual shaft encoders can be hard to get or pretty expensive. I made this part to function as a dual shaft encoder but with two single encoders. I have printed the knobs with my SLA printer because of the esthetics, the gears are also printed with my SLA printer. I have designed it for round shaft encoders, not for the D-shaft encoders as shown in the model. I only have a D-shaft model encoder. The assembly uses a 3mm shaft of 17mm, a 3mm shaft of 34mm + the thickness of the faceplate where you mount it to a 5mm hollow shaft of 14mm + the thickness of the faceplate. The hollow shaft that I used was carbon because I had that laying around, you can also use other materials. You need 2x 683ZZ bearings, I have used bearings for a smooth operation, you can try to print small bushings to replace the bearings. The gears are 3d printed as mentioned, but in the design I have used a standard 0.5 modulus with 40 teeth. They are widely available, very common in RC cars etc. Here is the link to the part on Fusion https://a360.co/3IFCyDa
