Dual E3D V6 MK8 part fan mount
thingiverse
Part fan for Peter Stoneham's Rigidbot Dual V6 Mk8 Alloy Mount. This part fits both version 1 & 2 perfectly. The fan mount makes use of existing bearing bolts as well as extra mount point on far right edge (M3) to minimize sloping. It consists of two parts that fit together with M3 bolts and nuts - or super glue if you want to keep the weight absolutely minimal. A single 40mm fan cools part for both extruders effectively. UPDATE 2016-01-27 (v2B) Increased distance to bed so won't hit printed parts on fast moves. Improved airflow with wider distribution, better downward angle. Centered fan in relation to print heads (X axis). Centered fan in relation to mount (Y axis). Stronger mount points improve stability. Better weight distribution for smoother operation. UPDATE 2016-01-31 (v2C) Redesigned nozzle forces air more downward, away from heater block. Larger flat bottom area makes printing easier, slightly larger air volume. Fixed small alignment issue on fan mounting holes. Printer Settings RigidBot is recommended printer model. Notes Top part requires no support, brim or raft. 0.2mm layer height is sufficient due to lack of details in vertical plane. Bottom part should be printed oriented as in file, using supports. 0.05-0.1mm layer height is highly recommended. Post-Printing Drill up all reinforced/encircled holes to 3mm if needed. Do NOT drill the four holes closest to center where fan will go. Attach top and bottom parts with M3 bolts through four (drilled up) holes surrounding fan area. Fasten bolts with lock nuts on bottom. Place 40mm fan in center and attach with M3 bolts OR self-tapping screws. If necessary, pre-tap the four holes with an M3 tap. Unfasten left bearing bolts on carriage, place fan mount on top of plate and re-fasten bolts through fan mount.
