Dual E3D bowden coldend. With one (50mm) fan to rule/cool them all!
cults3d
I updated this design and it can be found here Wish/specs/feature list: - Easy to access both hotends - Nozzles fit close together (24mm nozzle to nozzle) - Replaces the noisy E3D fan(s) with a single 50mm fan - Fan should also cool the print - I like "fully" enclosed hotends - Tried to limit angles to 40 degrees so printing without support should be possible - For Prusa i3 or any printer that has the x-carriage bars arranged vertically - Requires a total of 4 m3 bolts and nuts for: the hinge(20mm), lock(10-20mm) and fan(~15mm) and 2 m4(20-25mm?) bolts and nuts for fastening to x-carriage. Update: I've edited the door, made it shorter and removed the grill as it is unnecessary and only hinders airflow anyway. Added it as a separate file. Update2: I've created a version for E3D v5's I design all holes 0.25mm bigger so it fits a screw right away, your results may vary. Please message me if you run into issues. The hotend fits very tight. Accompanying story: I've been running with my self made bowden coldend which holds a single E3D v6 hotend, a servomotor for a z-probe and a blower fan cooling the print. I am planning to go for a dual E3D bowden setup so it is time to design a new coldend. This time I wanted easier access to the hotend, have a better visual of the print as my current one has a fan shroud at the front cooling the print. I'm thinking whether to keep the z-probe servo as I had issues with it oscillating. I've already ditched the bed leveling before printing as it's usually quite easy to align the bed so I might as well ditch the whole servo.
