Dual Budaschnozzle X-carriage & extruders

thingiverse

This X-carriage was built specifically to be used with a Geetech Dual-head Hotend which features two unique buda-schnozzles that allow for exceptional precision during the 3D printing process. Its design allows for it to seamlessly integrate into Mendel-style horizontal printers where the print is positioned below and in line with the x-axis, rather than on top of or slightly offset from this axis. In addition to accommodating these specialized dual-head hotends, the X-carriage has also been engineered to accommodate three fans that play a critical role in ensuring the components do not overheat. These 40mm cooling fans are strategically placed – one at each side of the carriage and the last near the back - so as to directly cool down both the buda schnozzles, which rely on heat dissipaters or radiators for this function, while also aiding in cooling of the printer during active use. An interesting design decision incorporated into this X-carriage involves a reliance on timing belts over conventional gear drives for certain operational tasks.
