Inspired by the dual GT2 belt driven z axis by n9jcv, I designed my own kit for a dual belt driven bed with different bearings and attachments to 2020 profiles instead of plywood. This design upgrade allows for improved stability and reduced wear on the system. The kit uses 0812 self-lubricating bronze bushings, which provide better load distribution and reduced friction compared to regular ball bearings. This ensures smoother operation and extended lifespan of the components. To streamline the printing process, I reused the original motor mount, requiring only a single print for the complete kit. However, minor adjustments were necessary due to the design's precision tolerances. A small section of the motor mount had to be trimmed with pliers to fit between the bottom bracket and the 8mm z-axis holder. Fortunately, the motor mount is over-engineered, making this modification a non-issue. I use this system in conjunction with my bearing to bushing adapter for the original z-carriage by Tech2C, which eliminates up to 90% of the z-banding/noise caused by the cantilever design with linear ball bearings. Bill of Materials (BOM): * Approximately 1.3 meters of GT2 belt * One 150mm closed loop belt * Five pulleys with an internal diameter of 8mm (or any other suitable rod diameter) * A rod as long as your hypercube frame is wide * Two 0812 bronze self-lubricating bushings * One regular pulley for the motor shaft * Several zip-ties * Each top bracket uses two small flange bearings, similar to those found in the original XY-idlers. I encourage you to replicate this design and share your experiences!
