I designed a simple 2-bearing belt idler for my Prusa i3 printer to address premature wear on the GT2 belt caused by it hitting the side of the stock idler. The design features two bearings to reduce wear and tear. This custom idler attaches securely to both the upper and lower 10mm threaded rods, minimizing bed movement while allowing for full print area use. I recommend a bearing size of 8mm inside diameter x 22mm outside diameter x 7mm wide to achieve optimal performance. Combining these bearings with two washers significantly reduces friction, ensuring smooth belt movement. Both high and low bearing mount versions are included in the design package along with SketchUp source files for modification and customization.
