I needed a thicker version of the original 2020 spool holder to fit my 3.5kg and 5kg spools. I also thought since I'm dealing with much heaver spools, I would make it perfectly rest between the upper two 2020 brackets that give my printer its support and rigidity. I did make some extrusion holes in the bracket to both slightly reduce material usage, and increase the number of walls and overall strength of part. It does work with just a single 2020 extrusion with both 3.5kg and 5kg, but I only did a quick 2hr test on 5kg, so your mileage may vary. Additionally, all of my structural prints use 4 or 5 walls, 4 top/bottoms, and 30% or more infill. This basically makes the side pieces that support the spools 80% plastic per volume depending on your resolution.
