Dual Axis Rotational Casting Machine (AKA Coin Caster)Prototype
thingiverse
Experimental prototype, this machine is designed for producing lightweight hollow castings using rapid-setting resins in rubber molds. Centrifugal force ensures even distribution of the liquid resin on all mold surfaces, curing within minutes while in motion. Optimizing rotation for object shape and curing material speed could result in even wall thickness. The process is also suitable for wax casting into rubber molds, useful in lost-wax metal casting in foundries. Made from scrap materials under $300, this machine's concept can be adapted to various needs. A smaller stepper motor version is planned for precise shape positioning, followed by scaling up with servos. Despite not being a perfect design yet, it has produced quality castings and handles molds up to 100lbs. The rotating contactor enables power transmission through the horizontal axis to drive spinning tables holding molded resins.
