Dual Asthma Inhaler Case
prusaprinters

Just been recently diagnosed with late onset asthma. Sucks giant donkey stones. Anyway I need to carry these two inhalers now, one for daily use, one for when things flare up. I didn't want these to get damaged (happened already) or collect lint from my pocket and inhale it, so I designed a case to hold them both.

The irregular design is a result of my tracing round the inhalers on squared paper, then approximating this in Fusion360. You can see the canvas in Fusion360- behold my shoddy tracing work!

This case holds the two inhalers reasonably snugly, although there is a little rattle. I might glue in a small piece of felt to cure this.

It's designed to accept 3.8x10x10mm neodymium magnets (4 of) to keep the top and bottom together. I cant remember where or when I got these, but they slide in nice and snugly- no glueing required. These do hold the lid closed very well indeed- first time I have used magnets in a design and I have to say I'm impressed.

I printed my name on the lid, but have removed this from the uploaded files so you have a blank canvas to work with. If you are going to print your name/logo on the lid, just deboss it 2-3 layers, as the lid is only 2mm thick. Check your slicer is planning to bridge the gaps in the lid in a sensible way, or add supports to keep it printable.

There are some thin walls on this print, just as the walls begin, but it did print very well with no sagging or dodgy bits, and the finished print is pretty strong and stiff.

Printing & Supports

Print 1x top, and 1x bottom part. These are different due to the alignment pins. This is the only difference between he top and bottom- they are otherwise a mirror image.

I printed using Polymaker Red PLA at 0.3mm layer heights and 20% infill. Not sure how this will stand up to daily knocks and bumps, but we'll see. PETG may be a more durable option.

No supports required. All chamfers are 45degrees or steeper. Although see above comment about checking your slicer is being smart with areas requiring bridging (any added lid text/logos and the magnet holes)

Build

Print it, put your inhalers in it, put your inhalers in your bag/pocket. Follow your Doc's orders!
