Dual 40mm clip-on fan holder for Ultimaker
thingiverse
This fan holder was designed to meet three key goals. Firstly, it uses two open fans rather than fan ducts, as the designer prefers this approach; fan ducts can work well but may obstruct maintenance on the hot end. Secondly, the fan size is 40mm, which is more readily available than the stock 50mm fans. Lastly, the design eliminates nuts and bolts (except for those securing the fans) by featuring a clip-on version that simply snaps onto existing bolts, making fan swapping easier. The creator was inspired by scottvader's successful results (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:125244) and is currently using Teflon tape for insulation, although MadOverlord's silicone sock (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:165750) could be a better option. An update from 2013/12/08 fixed an issue where the original model could clash with the lower bolt on the Y axis sliding block in some cases. The print is relatively easy, with only a bridge requiring extra attention during printing. The designer used PLA and has not encountered any issues with sagging or deformation so far. Feedback on potential problems would be appreciated.
