DStretch Version The Catacombs of San Gennaro (Naples) feature a prominent arched niche, or arcosolium, designed to accommodate at least three burials. This underground burial site was utilized from the 2nd century AD through the Middle Ages. Unfortunately, only the front part of the arch boasts a preserved white plaster layer, while the surrounding walls remain unpainted. A recess on the right-hand side may have served as a spot for a lamp. This digital model was generated using 217 photographs and two laser scans. The project is a collaborative effort between GDH, the Zamani Project, Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”, and the Catacombe di Napoli Administration. Reality Capture software processed the data. Seniorprofessor Dr. Dieter Korol of Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster provided descriptive information for this project, designated as Fresco 18b.
