DSLR Built-In Pop-Up Flash Bounce Mirror

This is another take on a bounce mirror mount for a DSLR's built-in pop-up flash. As with my other creations, simplicity in construction was the goal. Two printed pieces were used: a hot shoe mounted bracket and a mirror frame with two mounts - one for portrait orientation, and the other for landscape orientation. Both provide a 45-degree upward angle to a level lens (directing the flash output to the ceiling) without any further adjustments available. I fit this contraption to my Nikon D7000 and D7200, but it should also work with other DSLR models - although no guarantees are made about fit or results. Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Maker Select Rafts: Yes Supports: No Notes: Print the bracket on end, with the hot shoe end down. Print the mirror frame/mount with the flat side down. No supports should be needed. A notch in the mirror frame was included to circumvent an apparent bug in my Cura slicer software. Post-Printing Mirror Component This thing requires a 3" x 3" mirror, which can be attached to the frame/mount using double-sided mounting pads. Mirrors are widely available in this size - one source is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HGODQU . I also used a chrome-finished plastic cake server spatula from Dollar Tree store: https://www.dollartree.com/party-supplies/catering-supplies/Silver-Plastic-Cake-Servers-2-pc-Sets/574c584c584p342080/index.pro - it was cheap, light and easily obtained. Caution is advised when working with glass. Proceed at your own risk. Usage On my camera, I boost the flash setting by 1 EV (the maximum I can) and exposure by another EV as well. A white reflective surface must be directly above the camera, parallel to the camera's bottom. You will likely need to attach the mirror frame to the bracket after mounting the bracket to your camera's hot shoe. Have fun!
