Dryer exhaust vent flap
thingiverse
The outside dryer exhaust port on my house has three flaps that swing open when the dryer is running and shut tight when the air stops moving. One of these flaps recently broke, requiring a replacement. Approximate dimensions are: * The body of the flap measures 104mm wide by 32mm high by 1.5mm thick. * The retention tabs are 2.5mm in diameter and 4.3mm long. Material considerations are crucial when selecting a print material for this project. In the USA, dryer exhaust temperatures must not exceed 180°F (82°C). Since it will also be exposed to outdoor elements like direct sunlight and heat, these factors should be taken into account when choosing a suitable print material. As you may know, the glass transition temperatures for common 3D filaments are: * PLA: 60°C * PETG: 88°C * ABS: 105°C Given this information, it is clear that PLA is not recommended for this print. PETG would be a minimum requirement, with ABS being the more ideal material. Print settings include: * Printer brand: FlashForge * Printer model: FlashForge Creator Pro * Rafts: Yes * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2 Notes on printing include using 20% rectilinear infill. It is essential for the infill to be oriented at a 45-degree angle against the long edge of the vent, rather than parallel to it, for strength reasons: http://www.sparxeng.com/blog/mechanical/3d-print-orientation-effect-part-strength
