
Drybox (Low Vitamin)

I set out to design a drybox using minimal purchased parts. Along the way, I discovered that my existing drybox, which utilized 608zz bearings, spun excessively freely, causing filament binding on the spool. This drybox is based on a file box from Office Depot (Item #840427): https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/840427/Super-Stacker-Storage-Box-19-Liters/ I also employed foam backer rod (SKU #803064): https://www.homedepot.com/p/M-D-Building-Products-5-8-in-x-20-ft-Gray-Caulk-Backer-Rod-for-Gaps-and-Joints-71506/100165680 Furthermore, I used standard 4mm PTFE tubing commonly found in bowden systems. Additionally, some hot glue was used to assemble the components. You will need to drill a few holes measuring 9-10mm on the side of the box for filament ports, but no cuts or holes are required, and no bolts are necessary. The spindles were designed to be easily replaceable without reprinting the suspension arms. They are intended to self-center, featuring a small taper toward the center...though I am still unsure if this design aspect works as planned.
