If you print a lot, the filament can become pricey. I recently discovered that REAL offers 5kg PETG spools at 50% less than standard 1kg spools. So, I designed this substantial 5kg spool holder / dry box. It employs these skateboard bearings. Required: * Box: https://www.sunware.com/nl/q-line-opbergbox-52-l-transparant-metallic.html * ALU pipe (30mm cut to 310mm): https://www.brico.be/nl/gereedschap-installatie/ijzerwaren/profielen-platen/profielen/gah-alberts-ronde-buis-aluminium-natuur-1-m-x-3-cm/5534999 * Nutserts m3 for in the holder.stl: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33028273920.html * REAL 5kg PETG filament: https://www.123-3d.nl/REAL-filament-zwart-1-75-mm-PETG-5-kg-i3937-t7396.html * Bowden tube fitting: I use this to pass the filament through the box (see pictures) * Bowden tube: Make sure to insert a piece of bowden tube through the fitting otherwise the filament cuts on the sharp edges of the fitting * Bearings (608 ZZ 8x22x7): https://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/20-Stück-608-ZZ-8x22x7-mm-Kugellager-Miniaturkugellager-2Z-Rillenkugellager/261399497655 * 4x M3 screws What to print: * 2x holder.stl: Print this with 100% infill for strength (5kg is significant weight!) * 2x adapter.stl: Also print with 100% infill * 2x rolspacer.stl: To make the REAL spool fit nicely on the 30mm alu pipe. If you want to use other spools, just design this for your specific spools. Instructions: * Fit the nutserts in the holders. * Put the bearings on the adapter * Cut the alu pipe to 310 mm * Fit & glue the adapter (with mounted ball bearing) in the alu pipe. * Put 2x rolspacer over the alu pipe * Fit the whole assembly in the spool. I had to hammer the rolspacers a bit to fit snugly * Fitting the spool inside the box is delicate. It only has approx 5mm spacing from bottom and top. Place some 5mm paper underneath the assembled spool (with pipe, rolspacer and adapter in the pipe mounted) inside the box. Put the holders on both sides in the box; they will remain because the pipe pushes the box walls a bit outside. Drill the mounting holes and secure with M3 screws
