Julia Drusilla (September 16th, 16 AD – June 10th, 38 AD) was a pivotal figure in Roman history as the second daughter of Germanicus and Agrippina the Elder. Born on September 16th, 16 AD, she became a prominent member of the imperial family due to her father's stature. As the sister of Emperor Caligula, Julia Drusilla played a significant role in shaping his reign. Julia Drusilla was born in Abitarvium, now known as Koblenz, Germany. She spent her early years surrounded by the Roman elite and developed strong relationships with prominent figures. In 33 AD, she married Lucius Cassius Longinus, a close friend of Emperor Tiberius. However, this marriage proved short-lived as Caligula intervened and remarried her to Marcus Aemilius Lepidus in 37 AD. Julia Drusilla's close bond with Caligula was evident throughout his reign. She became a favorite of the emperor, and rumors of an incestuous relationship surrounded them. Although this claim remains unverified, it is undeniable that Julia Drusilla held a special place in Caligula's heart. Her influence on him was significant, and some historians regarded her as his partner. Following Caligula's recovery from illness in 38 AD, Julia Drusilla's life took a tragic turn. She died at the age of approximately twenty-two, possibly due to the plague. Caligula was devastated by her passing and had her deified soon after. He ordered that she be buried with full honors, as if she were his wife. The Roman Senate declared her a goddess, dubbing her "Diva Drusilla." In 39 AD, Caligula named his daughter Julia Drusilla in honor of his beloved sister. However, this young Julia Drusilla met a tragic end when she was assassinated along with her parents on January 24th, 41 AD.
