Drunkenness of Noah (Bridge of Sighs - Venice)

The medieval sculpture of Noah's Drunkenness forms the south-eastern corner of the Palazzo Ducale, perhaps created by Filippo Calendario, one of its architects who died in 1355. A groundbreaking element is the placement of almost life-size figures on building corners - neither Venice nor any other place had seen this before. The sculpture skillfully uses both sides of the corner to bring drama to this part of the story. On one side, Noah is shown drunk, while his two sons are depicted on the other. A sneaky hand reaches around the corner to cover up the father's nakedness.
